簡介

綠色化學概念源於1990年代由美國環境保護局制定之「污染預防法」，綠色化學其目的在促進化學產品製造和使用中，減少或消除使用有害物質的新一代創新化學技術，美國環保署 (US EPA) 明確表示，綠色化學涉及消除化學過程中的有害物質。其定義為：「設計化學產品和製程，以減少或消除有害物質之使用與生產」(Green chemistry is the design of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use or generation of hazardous substances)。
