  • Asbestos is a general term for fibrous hydrous silicate minerals. It is mainly divided into chrysotile (also known as white asbestos) and amphibole (brown asbestos, blue asbestos, anthophyllite, actinolite, and tremolite). Chrysotile, brown asbestos, and blue asbestos are the three types commonly used in commercial applications, with chrysotile being the most widely used in industrial applications. Asbestos has various characteristics, including fire resistance, high temperature resistance, insulation, abrasion resistance, acid and alkali resistance, corrosion resistance, high tensile strength, fiber flexibility, and spinnability, making it widely used.
  • The main uses of asbestos include construction, instrumentation, textile industry, and filling and barrier materials. The main products can be classified into four categories: cement products, textile products, abrasion-resistant products, and insulation products.
  • During processing, asbestos may break and release dust into the air. The main sources of asbestos dispersion into the atmosphere are weathering and erosion of naturally occurring asbestos deposits, mineral extraction, industrial processes, and improper disposal of asbestos-containing waste materials.
