In order to strengthen the technical support function of disaster prevention and rescue for the toxic and concerned chemical substances, the Chemicals Administration of the Ministry of the Environment has established a total of 10 environmental incidents specialist teams in the northern, central, and southern districts of Taiwan. When an environmental incident occurs in each district, we provide 24 hours a day, year-round services to assist in on-site environmental detection, response coordination, and offer on-site safety and recovery advice to disaster response units. The technical team members of the Administration are equipped with knowledge and skills in environmental incident response, monitoring, sampling, and aftermath recovery, etc., so that they can make correct judgment and provide relevant advice on the incident on-site response actions when attending an emergency, with a view to improving the response to the toxicity and chemical incidents, environmental monitoring, and aftermath recovery, etc., and achieving the objectives of mitigating the incident damage, avoiding the expansion of the incident, safeguarding the safety of people's lives, and protecting the environment around the site.
The 10 environmental incidents specialist teams are located as follows.
- Northern Taiwan
Yilan Team: Located in Loung Te(with Letzer) Industrial Parks Service Center
Taipei Team: Located in Luzhou Precinct, New Taipei City Police Department.
Taoyuan Team: Located in Linkou Industrial Park.
Hsinchu Team: Located in Hsinchu Science Park.
- Central Taiwan
Taichung Team: Located in Central Taiwan Science Park
Yunlin Team: located in Douliu Industrial Park
Mailiao Team: Located in Mailiao Office of Yunlin County Environmental Protection Bureau.
- Southern Taiwan
Tainan Team: Located in Southern Taiwan Science Park.
Kaohsiung Team: Located in the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology.
Pingtung Team: Located in Pingtung Technology Industrial Park
- Northern teams (blue): Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Yilan. Service sites include police precincts, Linkou and Hsinchu industrial parks, and Loung Te service center.
- Central teams (yellow): Taichung, Yunlin, Mailiao. Service sites include Central Taiwan Science Park, Mailiao Bureau, and Douliu Industrial Park.
- Southern teams (green): Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung. Service sites include Southern Taiwan Science Park, Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, and Pingtung Technology Park.
